JAPAN DAYS in Duesseldorf - 13.06.2009
BIG in Japan / BIG in Düsseldorf
In Duesseldorf live more Japanese citizens than anywhere else in
To celebrate this friendly and inspiring neighbourhood, Duesseldorf became the stage for the “Japan Day” - a very popular meeting festival - for the eighth time.
With the support from official and private institutions and initiatives you could take a closer look inside Japanese Culture. Origami, Ikebana and Calligraphy could be experienced and tried out. Samurais presented magnificent armours, sports as Sumo, Judo and Karate were demonstrated as well as the art of archery, Kyudo.
But for me most interesting, there was a new feature:
The “Popculture Zone”, where Manga fans dressed up as popular comic figures.
Every Saturday you can see Manga fans showing off in Duesseldorf. Mostly shopping at the Immermann street, to get their stuff they are addicted to J (That is the place, you can find shops and restaurants of the Japanese Community.)
For the first time, a big meeting of their scene in Duesseldorf. Awesome !
The “Mangas” some shy, some screaming “LOOK AT ME!” posed for the photographers and made the whole Rhinepromenade a long catwalk.
You could see every kinda style from beautiful to ugly and arty, some spent hours to dress up, some just took a pink whig and celebrated “Carneval”.
But it was fun, the sun was shining brightly, it was really hot and eye candy everywhere.
A big “THANK YOU” to all the beautiful girls that posed so patiently and to “animexx”, the host of the fashion/costumeshow.
HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR !
Be-him
