FASHION
Freitag, Januar 30th, 2009FASHION ?Since man learned to walk tall, “Fashion” is something everybody knows and everybody is interested in. Some more, some less! Most of the time it`s the Ladies, that do know everything about the “Fashion Trends”. “Will skirts be short and chequered, or long and black next year? Do I want to follow the trend ? “Is there something I could wear to be ahead of all the others and set the new trend?” Choice of dress has always been governed by a series of influences,- social and economic, artistic and technical- and, of course, the vagaries of individual taste. Fashion is not only about cut, shape and accessories, there are also social aspects of dressing, how styles are conveyed, how and where materials and clothes were purchased and shown, who is playing a part in the world of “Haute Couture”, independent designer, Streetfashion and Mainstream.Cecil Beaton, one of the worlds most famous photographers stated :“ …changes in Fashion correspond with the subtle and often hidden network of forcesthat operate on society – political, economic and psychological factors all play their part. In this sense Fashion is a symbol.”Cecil Beaton / The class of Fashion / Weidenfed and Nicolson / 1954 The ready made industry:If you want to proclaim your social status, buying a new outfit is an expencive business. Whether you like it loud or more subtle, you can not ignore the real big names in High Fashion, the entrance to the spheres you want to belong to. “ Social Fashion” is all about codes, to discover, follow and in some way “ protect” them against all who are not into them. Those who can not play with real “Luxury Brands”, simply because its not affordable, are using the same mechanism of separation by other means. Simply integrating another aspect of life, for example your favourite music or sports and there are a million possibilities to create new codes for a new scene. Everyone expresses their wishes and longings, it`s not who we are but who we want to be. The banker wearing a Skatertee or the schoolgirl dressed in the “blackromantic”, picturesque gothic lolita manga style, they both play a game of hide and seek. Only very few people really “ LIVE” that. Its just borrowed for a small moment and will be replaced in another. Thats the Mainstream. “Taking not giving”. The creative ones are often mobbed by those who are wearing their ideas. Thats Life! If you are wearing last years brand you will be ignored, if you are wearing something incredibly “undiscovered” you will be beaten up. So shall we take “Fashion” seriously? Does Fashion really only cover the “surface”? How important is Fashion? The fact that “Scarlett” turns her curtains into a ball gown in “Gone with the Wind” is somehow remarkable. In this simple act you discover all different aspects of Fashion. Its all about beauty, society, skills and fantasy. The longing for a “good, fashionable look” is undestructible. If you have nothing but curtains, come on, make the most of it. Thats the true “Spirit of Fashion”, to create. To invent something beautyful, remarkable, outragous. Something to impress, what you wear can be your statement. Do you want to separate or integrate from the others, to stand out or to vanish in the crowd ? “Real Fashion” is not for everybody and it doesn`t necessarily mean you can`t affort it. You need discipline and a strong will and, of course you have to be vain. Because Fashion is about following rules and breaking them the right time. That means: No “Bad Hair Day”, always a “Perfect Make-Up”. So, tell me: “Are you “Mainstream” or are you “Underground”?How do you want to express your personality?be-him & Jay
